Catalysts’ team of stretching professionals have merged the field of Physical Therapy with Thai Yoga Massage and developed our own method of partner assisted stretching. Our stretch method achieves larger gains in flexibility in shorter amounts of time than what is possible by yourself. Each session takes place on a massage table using calculated overpressure combined with nerve stimulation to promote relaxation for the patient. This allows your joints to move through a full range of motion without pain.

If you participate in our stretch therapy, you will also have the opportunity to be introduced to our team of physical therapists who work in tandem with our stretching professionals to identify imbalances in patients. This allows us to combine individualized strength programs with flexibility techniques to address the asymmetries in your body and allow for long-lasting results.

Active stretching (you are stretching yourself) includes no external force. You use one muscle group to stretch another muscle group. With passive stretching an external force (a partner) is being used to generate the tension or stretch in the targeted muscle while opposing muscles are in a relaxed state – allowing for deeper flexible gains.

It really depends on how tight you are when we perform your initial visit. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends stretching each major muscle group 2-3x per week. Whether it be at Catalyst or at home, adding stretching to your healthcare regimen will help your muscles and joints live a long healthy life.

If your sport relies on a large amount of flexibility (gymnastics, dance) then we recommend doing our partner-assisted stretching prior to performing a dynamic warm up. If you rely on lots of sprinting, cutting, jumping in your sport (soccer, football, basketball) then our stretching is best done after practices or competitions.
